March Haul

Hey Guys!

I hope you are all having a great night and enjoyed the last day of March.  I know I did.  I am so not looking forward to tomorrow though.  I think I may not even answer my phone just so I don't get pranked.  lol!  Anyway, this is just a haul post for the month so check it out.
Firefly, Luminary, Flutter, Morning Star, Sweet Dreams
Purple Diamond, Glass Pink, Cinderella, Treasure Island
There is one LA Colors not pictured that is called Sparkling Diamond.  It's identical to OPI Pirouette My Whistle, but  shiny silver.
 Jennifer, Brooke
Chunky Holo Clover, Metamorphosis, Fame & Fortune, Savita, Veruschka
Kiwi Cool-ada, Sour Apple, Atlantis, FAKE Atlantis (lol)
Warm & Fozzie, Pirouette My Whistle, My Pointe Exactly, DS Sapphire

This is really scary.  I never realized how much I buy polish even though I told myself I would slow down.  I know there are bloggers out there who buy way more in a one month period, but this is just not like me.  I'm a shopper, but DAMN!  I tried to put them in order of how I bought them.  I think I did really well.

So thanks for checking out my March haul.  I really enjoy seeing other bloggers monthly hauls too, so I hope you guys are posting them as we speak!  I also hope March was really good to all of you and that April brings good things your way.

Sinful Colors Purple Diamond

[EDIT: I HAVE BEEN CALLING THIS POLISH SPARKLING DIAMOND FOR THE LONGEST AND NOT REALLY PAYING ATTENTION.  IT'S CALLED PURPLE DIAMOND.  I HAVE EDITED ALL POSTS MENTIONING THIS POLISH AS TO NOT CONFUSE YOU ALL EVEN FURTHER]

Sorry for the late post.  I've just been lounging today and trying to avoid doing anything at all.  Anyway, I wanted to show you a really pretty, girly polish from Sinful Colors.  I've been really into Sinful lately.

So Purple Diamond is a sheer, shimmer (but not from the Sheer Shimmers collection) lilac polish that took 3 coats.  If you've seen Glass Pink, this is basically the purple version of that.  If you haven't, I'll be swatching it soon.  Anyawy, I think the name really suits this because it certainly does sparkle in the sun.  I also think this color suits my short stubbins.  I don't like to bring too much attention to them. (:

Have a great night!

Versatile Blogger Award

Hey Guys!

So I was given the Versatile Blogger Award by, not 1, but 2 bloggers: O' Natur Nail and This Charming Kate, so thanks ladies!
THE RULES:
1. Nominate 15 fellow bloggers

2. Let them know you have nominated them.
3. Share 7 random facts about yourself.
4. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
5. Add the Versatile Blogger Award picture to your blog post.

First off I am not going to nominate anyone because I think most of the blogs I follow have already been nominated, but I will share 7 facts about myself.  Second of all, I don't really understand the award.  I figure you have be "versatile" and blog about several different topics versus just one.  I only blog about one.  Lastly, most of the blogs I follow are also nail blogs so, in my eyes, they don't "qualify".  I hope this makes sense to everyone.  So once again thanks to Tressa and Kate for the award.

7 FACTS:
1. I have been with my bf, Cody, for 5 years.  When we get married, my name will be Danielle McDaniel...go ahead and laugh.  Most people do.
2. I'm addicted to Facebook games because I have nothing better to do.
3. I like salty snacks more than sweet snacks.
4. My cell phone is from the stone age because I don't know how new ones work.
5. I hate checking my voicemail, so I usually don't.
6. I am mesmerized by outer space.  I watch documentaries about it constantly and then I spout off what I learned, like I'm a scientist.
7. I am completely full of useless information.  I get that from my sister.

Later!

Girly Girl Challenge Day 8 - Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun!

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for joining me for the last day of the Girly Girl Challenge.  I have to say, a few of these were definitely a challenge.  I also want to thank Lindsey of Neverland Nail Blog for including me in this awesome challenge.

Day 8 is Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun! - It's true, we do!  Let your mani show us how fun-loving you are!  I'm so glad I hooked up with Ashley from Smashley Sparkles yesterday because I nabbed so super fun polishes to use for this mani.
Some of my lines got a little rough but eh, who cares?  I wanted to do brighter colors, but I do have an interview tomorrow so I had to keep it somewhat "appropriate".

WHAT I USED:
OPI DS Sapphire - 2 coats
Zoya Savita - tips with tape
white rhinestones

Hope you guys like these other challengers too!

Comparison - Color Club Metamorphosis/Sally Hansen Emerald Express

Hey Ladies!  Just like I promised, I have a comparison of two really gorg emerald polishes.
So on the left we have Metamorphosis and on the right is Emerald Express.  In the bottles I can already tell a slight difference in color.  Emerald Express looks like it has a little more blue in it.
On my pinky and middle finger is Metamorphosis and my ring and pointer finger are Emerald Express.  So I was right.  EE is more blue and doesn't have that purple undertone that Metamorphosis has.
The difference in the finish is very easy to see as well.  Metamorphosis has a foil finish that is clearly seen in the bottle and EE is more of that pearl finish.  Another big difference in the two is opacity.  Metamorphosis required 3 coats and EE only 2.  It has that amazing wide brush so application is super easy.  I think I could have gotten away with 1 coat.  Isn't that the appeal of the Inst-dri anyway?

So yes, they are slightly different, but I don't need them both.   I still prefer Color Club Metamorphosis.  I just love that foil finish and flash of purple it has in the right light.  Goodbye Emerald Express.  Our time has been good.

Happy Wednesday!

Girly Girl Challenge Day 7 - Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice

Ya know I don't think I've ever been made of sugar; just mainly spice, lots of spice.  (:  Thanks for joining me today for this post of the Girly Girl Challenge.

Day 7 is Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice - That's what little girls are made of.  Show off your sweet (or spicy) inspired nails.
I didn't really know what to do for this one.  This is a franken I made called I Like the Nightlife and it's got so much glitter in it, it's really "sugary".  Then I added a french tip with Sinful Colors What's Your Name? and there you have it.  A sugar packed mani.

Check out these bloggers too!

Color Club Fame & Fortune and Metamorphosis

Hey Guys!

Today I want to show you my very first Color Club polishes.  I actually found these at HEB (a Texas grocery store) and I was really surprised at the collection of they carry, including OPI, Orly, and the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kollection.  So then I was about to leave the cosmetics area, when I spotted a small Color Club "display" tucked on the bottom shelf of an end cap.  So I picked up the ones I liked best and rushed home to have a swatch party.
First up is Fame & Fortune.  It is a magenta jelly base filled with shredded chunks or holo glitter.  I applied 3 coats but I definitely think this is better as a layering polish.  Once I got it on, I wasn't crazy about it.  I wish it was just a clear base with the shredded glitter.
This beauty is Metamorphosis.  It's a beautiful emerald green with a slight flash of purple (sadly it shows up more in the bottle than on the nail) with a foil finish.  I always love foil finishes and I love green, so I've been wearing this a lot lately.  It reminds me a lot of Sally Hansen Emerald Express so I will be posting a comparison probably Wednesday.

I hope you guys come back to check it out.

Sinful Colors What's Your Name?

[THIS IS A SCHEDULED POST]
Hello Bloggers!

I hope you are having a lovely Sunday.  This is another polish I received back in October for my birthday.  I mentioned before that the polishes that were bought for me by my friend Robin all had names that she would call "muy sexual".  I can just imagine her giving me that come hither look and her bedroom eyes saying, "What's your name?"  I'm laughing so hard right now, but it's okay if you don't get it.  This is just how Robin is.  Anyway, let's get on with it.
This is 2 coats of What's Your Name?  It is a creme black base with blue and purple micro glitter.  I just couldn't pick up the purple glitter on the nail, but you can see it in the bottle.  I have over 75 photos at every angle and lighting trying to capture it, but nothin'.
I actually thought just by seeing it in the bottle, that I wasn't gonna like it.  I thought it was too good to be true that it would come out on the nail like that, but it did not disappoint in any way.  The formula, the application, the color and glitter.  I will keep her forever. ♥

I am at Run for the Rose right now so I will talk to you all when I get home.  Ya know, if I don't pass out form exhaustion. (:

Sinful Colors Sheer Shimmers Collection

Welcome!

I have an exciting post for you today.  Well I'm excited about it anyway.  It is the *NEW* Sinful Colors Sheer Shimmers Collection or the Girl's In Pearls Collection.  They display says both.  I went on a hunt for these after a fellow blogger said she wanted them in a swap.  Luckily I only had to stalk two Walgreen's to find it.  I walked in and BAM!  The full display ready for me to take home.  So of course I picked up one set for her and one for myself.  Now let's see what we have.

Let us begin!
Firefly is a creamy medium yellow with silver glass flecks.  I don't have any yellow that is this beautiful.  This is easily my favorite polish in the collection but the application was a nightmare with 3 coats and the formula was a little thick.  It was very uneven and refused to self level much like a few of the other polishes. I was thinking if I layer one coat of this over a similarly colored yellow polish, I could get away with it.  I will definitely try to make something work.
Next up is Luminary even though I think it should be called PYT.  I mean just look at it.  I for sure love this color and how much shimmer is jam packed inside this little bottle.  It reminds me a lot of Essence What Do U Think? but with way more sparkle so I have to say, I am retiring the Essence polish and replacing it with my new peach/coral love!  The color photographed a lot lighter but it is definitely more orange IRL. The application on this wasn't as bad as Firefly but still chose to fight me.  This is 3 coats.
Now we have Flutter, a dusty pink with the same silver glass flecks as every other in the collection.  This is another nightmare of an application because of the thick formula.  However, I was almost able to pull of 2 coats, but not quite.  I'm not in love with this one mainly because I'm not a pink lover.  I mean it's pretty, but that's about it.  I like a good "Wow Factor" when it comes to pink polish.  I just don't think this has it.  Simple as that.
Morning Star is a dusty periwinkle blue.  Unfortunately my camera did not pick it up correctly.  This is a really gorgeous color IRL and it's even better when you see the shimmer IRL as well.  The formula on this one was definitely better, but still required 3 coats to full opacity.
Lastly is Sweet Dreams, a beautiful saturated turquoise blue.  This one has a lot less shimmer than the other 4, but it is still very visible.  This was the only polish in the collection that covered in 2 coats.  If I were careful I could have gotten away with 1, but again, they don't like to self level.  My only complaint with Sweet Dreams is the amount of shimmer.  I feel like it's an outcast.  A wannabe if you will.

So what is my overall opinion of the Sinful Colors Sheer Shimmers Collection, you ask?  I LOVE IT.  I think my love for the shimmer and the gorgeous colors trumps the difficult applications and thick formulas.  I mean, they are "sheer shimmers" so if I can get a good even application in 1 coat, then I would wear it just so.  Also layering them over similar creme colors would help.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post.  It took me forever because I am so not focused.  My mind is all over the place.  Now that I'm done, I feel like I've accomplished something so great.  LOL!  Just leave your comments and questions below and I'll be sure to answer them.  I can also pick these up for you guys if you have a swap in mind.

Have a great Saturday!

What You May Not Know About Me

This is a tag I saw on Stephanie's Imperfectly Painted blog so I thought I'd give it a go.  I like to share nifty tidbits about myself even though I'm not that interesting. (:

THE RULES:
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you plus 11 questions for the people you have tagged to answer.
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your tag.
4. Email the person to let them know that they've been tagged.
5. No tag backs.

11 THINGS ABOUT ME:
1. I have been with my best friend, Tina, for 18 years.  She's one of the greatest people to ever come in my life.
2. I was born and raised in Texas and I'll probably never leave even though my number one wish is to get the hell out of here.
3. I will always love the Backstreet Boys and no one can change my mind. I've seen them in concert 6 times including the last tour with NKOTB.
4. I don't have a middle name.
5. I met my boyfriend at a party and two weeks later we moved in together.  We celebrated our 5 year anniversary in February.  What can I say?  We were in love and still are.
6. I've been to NYC twice and I wish I never left.
7. I went to college to be a fashion designer.  I don't do that now.
8. I hated my visual merchandising class with a passion, but that is my profession now and I LOVE it.
9. Household appliances really excite me.  My boyfriend got me the Rachel Ray cookware set for Christmas, and I just about died.  They even trumped the camera he bought me.
10. I love all types of music, but I am a punk at heart.
11. I'm extremely independent and don't take shit from anyone, but I'll do anything for my boyfriend.  I like to make sure he's happy.

11 QUESTIONS FROM STEPHANIE:
1. What was your favorite subject in school?
definitely photography
2. What are some of your favorite stores to shop for clothes?
Am I so lame that I love F21?  I also love thrift stores, Ross, Marshall's, Burlington.
3. If you had the chance to live in any time period in the past, what would it be?
I'm torn between the 60s and the 90s.  That's not too far back, but I love the music and the fashion.  So I could be a total hippie or a total junkie.  lol.  I guess those are my choices.
4. Who are some of the people you most admire?
My uncle is extremely inspiring. He actually adopted me when my mom died.  If I have an issue, he doesn't give me advice, but he guides me to make my own decision.  My oldest sister too.  She has sacrificed a lot for me and I'm forever grateful.  We actually hated each other when we were younger and now we are closer than I could have ever imagined.
5. If you could paint your room any color of nail polish what would you paint it?
Ooohh!  China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  Enough said.
6. Would you rather explore space of the deep sea?
SPACE!  You can ask anyone that knows me, I'm intrigued with space.  I always watch that show How the Universe Works.  I'm just amazed.
7. What is your favorite sweet treat?
Sour Patch Kids, vanilla cupcakes, Jell-O.  I really like salty snacks though, like Cheetos!  MMM!
8. Do you like to "go with the flow" or are you someone who likes to plan ahead?
I guess it depends on what I'm doing.  I'm a planner for sure, but every now and then, we like to just go.  We'll see what happens when we get there, where ever there is.
9. Where would you like to have an unlimited shopping spree?
Amazon.com.  I would buy so many household appliances, your head would spin.
10. What is your least favorite household chore?
I hate hanging up laundry.  I can wash and dry it all day long, but putting away just kills me.  Sometimes the clothes sit folded in the basket for weeks and we just pick from there.
11. What is your favorite board game?
Monopoly!  No one ever wants to play with me, but when I get a good group, we have Margarita Monopoly games.

MY 11 QUESTIONS:
1. What is your guilty pleasure?
2. What is one movie that always makes you cry, no matter how many times you've seen it?
3. When you can't find anything to wear, what is your "go to" outfit?
4. Do you care if people stare at you when you sing in the car?
5. What is your strangest phobia?
6. Would you rather raise a baby unicorn or a baby dragon?
7. Do you believe in love at first site?
8. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
9. What is the worst fashion/beauty decision you ever made?
10. What is the one song that describes how you're feeling RIGHT NOW?
11. What is your favorite quote?

MY TAGS:

Franken Peggy Jean

I just a have a quick little franken for you all.  It's nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that you would kill for.  It's just simple. I named this Peggy Jean for my mom and she died from a brain tumor in 2001.  I know it seems a little strange to name a grey polish for your mom, but the color grey symbolizes brain cancer awareness the same as pink is for breast cancer awareness.

May is brain cancer awareness month by the way.
This polish dried shiny and very smooth.  It also dried extremely quick in 2 coats one right after the other - no wait time in between.  Don't you just love all the glass flecks?!

WHAT I USED:
Love&Beauty grey - 1/2 bottle
WnW French White Creme - a few drops to lighten up the grey
Sinful Colors Out of This World - 1/2 bottle

Like I said it's simple, but at least I have something to wear for my Run for the Rose this Sunday.  This polish is also used in tomorrow's Girly Girl Challenge post so stay tuned!

Girly Girl Challenge Day 5 - Gotta Love Chick Flicks!

I sure do and so I was really excited to get this one started.  I'd had this planned since we all started this challenge. lol!

Day 5 is Gotta Love Chick Flicks! - We just CAN'T resist!  Wear a mani inspired by your favorite chick flick.  Mine is and will forever be Confessions of a Shopaholic!

The main thing I wanted to use for inspiration was her outfits throughout the film, and if you haven't seen this yet, YOU NEED TO!  But even better are the books.  They will make you laugh out loud.  It can be really embarrassing.  The whole series is fantastic and I wish they were all movies too.  Anyway, here is my crazy mani.
My pinky is terrible but inspired by the outfit Rebecca wore on the Morning Coffee Show.  My ring finger is based on the iconic "psyche defining" green scarf and the gold mannequin that convinces her to buy it.  My middle finger is horrible, but anyway, it's a take on her interview outfit at Successful Saving in which she wore a plaid cape.  And lastly my pointer finger is the jacket she wore to the magazine ball.  The real one had pink in it but I made mine green.  I hope this made some sort of sense.  I mean, if you've seen it you know.

WHAT I USED:
CG Senorita Bonita
CG Flip Flop Fantasy
Zoya Loredana
Zoya Mitzi
pop Gold Glitz
Julep Oscar
Color Club Metamorphosis

Don't forget to check out the other great bloggers that are participating in the challenge!

Warrior Dash Mani

Tomorrow I will be running in the Warrior Dash and so to commemorate this event, I made a mani for it.  One problem though; I couldn't figure a way to put the word "warrior" on my nails without it looking like my 6 year old niece wrote it.  Anyway...
It's pretty simple, but I thought it was so funny to do.  I had to file my nails down because I don't want to break them on all of the obstacles.  I just used the colors from the website and even added a little warrior helmet on my thumb.  I couldn't think of anything to put on the other thumb and besides, it would look like crap.  I'm a lefty.

WHAT I USED:
CG White on White
OPI Big Apple Red
Zoya Codie - because I am running with my boyfriend, Cody!

Enjoy this mani and I'll have photos of our silly outfits before and after the dash.

Girly Girl Challenge Day 4 - Inspired by the Runway

Welcome to the Girly Girl Challenge, Day 4 created and hosted by Lindsey of Neverland Nail Blog.

Day 4 is Inspired by the Runway - What is your favorite trend this season?  Show your stylish mani!
Ok, I will.
This is the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 runway show.  All the clothing and accessories are pastel (♥) and the shoes are metallic. I have always loved this combo and it brought me back to the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection and how I wished it had a yellow.  With that said, this is what I came up with.
Now that's what I'm talking about.  I used 2 coats of Love&Beauty Light Yellow (it's like banana pudding...mmm) and then added my OPI Silver Shatter on top.  Fin!  It was done very quickly and a little sloppy, but I feel like shatters and crackles can be sloppy.  I mean, they crack. /:
