Essie On a Silver Platter

I am still working on swatching the polishes from my mini vacation and of course this is one of them.  The good thing about this post is I finally got my camera back.  Did I tell you all I left in Louisiana?  Well I did and it just arrived today safe and sound.  Now I will have better quality photos rather than using my lame iPhone.
Yes today is Black Friday but I wanted to do something non-black.  Especially since I work in retail and I had to wear all black today, polish included.  Essie On a Silver Platter seems like more of a topper to me but it can be really pretty on it's own as well.  Above is two coats over my bare nail.  It is a gold/silver shimmer base with blue holographic glitters.  I think if you are going to top it over black or some other darker color, you should definitely use a light hand because the shimmer is super saturated and it really takes over the black.

There were a couple of others from the Encrusted Treasures collection that I wanted to try like Belugaria but I hear it's pretty bad.  What do you all think of this Essie collection?

Revlon Perfumerie Autumn Spice

When I was in Louisiana I found some great polishes that I haven't seen here in Houston. One of them was a scented Revlon polish called Autumn Spice.
Oh I also left my camera there. Whomp whomp!  So until I get it back in a couple of days I have to use my iPhone camera.

Anyway this polish is beautiful. It's very Fall. It applied like a dream in two coats. The copper shimmer really glows in the right light. I know a lot of people aren't into scented polish but the smell on this is very faint.  It smells really great but it does fade in about 24 hours so I'm sure you all could definitely stand to wait that long for such a gorgeous color.

Have a great night!  (:

Random Trip Haul

Hey lovelies!  Today's post is going to be short and sweet because I'm not even home. My bf and I decided to take a spur of the moment mini weekend vacation to Louisiana. There is something great (to me) that we don't have in Houston and that's Rite Aide.
From L to R: Silver Bells, Gift of Gold, Sugar Plum Fairy
From L to R: Sleigh Ride, Mistletoe, Ho Ho Ho
From L to R: On a Silver Platter, Autumn Spice, Black on Black, Treasure Chest

I think I did a pretty good haul considering it was unplanned. What do you think?  Let me know in the comments below. (:

Neon Grunge

Sorry this post is kinda late but I just got back from my fitness class.  Luckily this mani was already done so I just have to whip of the post.  (:

I was inspired by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails' distressed nail art tutorial, specifically her neon version.  Instead of using a black creme polish over the neons, I used OPI Spotted which has failed me once again.
If you all happened to see a guest post I did for Nail Polish Addiction awhile ago, I briefly explain the technique I used for the "radioactive" mani and how my OPI Spotted was a bust.  I used that same process this time except with neon shades in China Glaze Kiwi Cool-ada (green), China Glaze Creative Fantasy (purple), Color Club Lava Lamp (orange), Sinful Colors Pink (pink), Ulta Blue Streak (blue), and of course a white base - Zoya Purity.  I applied OPI Spotted and I can't say it was a complete fail.  I mean, it did separate but the colors were not as visible as I would have liked so I dipped a cotton swab in acetone and gently removed or smeared some of the black to create that grungy look.

Thanks to Sarah for making a great tutorial eventhough I didn't follow it to a tee.  lol I really enjoy both versions of this mani and I hope you all do too.  Let me know what you think in the comments below!

A Girl Obsessed Whimsyshire

Good evening Everyone!!!  I feel like I've been gone for a long time but it's only been one day.  I don't know.  I guess I just did a lot leading up to now that if felt longer.  You all are going to LOVE today's swatch for sure.  I didn't know it existed until I was just looking through Etsy shops and there it was.  A Girl Obsessed Whimsyshire!!  The name alone is what caught me.  At that point I don't think I would have cared if it was something I didn't like.  I would have bought it for the name.  I don't know of you've heard of it, but my boyfriend and I have been into the Diablo series for so long and in Diablo III there is a secret level called Whimsyshire.  Your character goes into a cartoon-style level and kills unicorns, happy clouds, cupcakes, etc. for gold and loot.  I know it sounds twisted but it's super fun.
If you could ever see this magical place (Google it!) you would know A Girl Obsessed did amazing relaying her inspiration for this polish.  This is actually one coat over Sinful Enchanted.  I love this glitter for so many reasons.  It's super dense so I could wear it alone if I wanted (no fishing for glitters), it's full of circle glitters in different sizes, and the formula is awesome (it's not thick or goopy).  Oh and the price is great.  It's only $8 on her Etsy store.

Let me know what you think about this awesome glitter polish.  Have you played Diablo III?  Let me know in the comments below.  (:

Textured Splatter w/ Studs

So far this every other day posting schedule is working out to my advantage.  I have more time for other things in my life, I can focus more on my work and then relaxing after work, and the more manis I do, the further they go.  I mean three or four manis can cover a whole week rather than half of one.  When the holidays are over, I will be able to get back to everyday posting for sure.

So I haven't done a splatter mani in awhile but I wanted to do one with a little twist.  I don't think it came as great as it did in my head, but it still looks awesome in my opinion.  Let's see!
For the splatters I used Zoya Purity, Zoya Zuza, and Zoya Dannii.  After that dried I used Zoya Dahlia to create a v-shape on all of my nails and then a full textured accent on my ring finger.  Before the Dahlia dried I added some metallic purple square studs just for fun.  I really love how this turned out.  I think it could have been executed a little cleaner but how clean can a splatter mani possibly be?  lol

Anyway I just love using my textured polishes for nail art rather than just a basic mani.  Have you used your textured polish in any interesting ways?  Let me know in the comments below.  You can also post your textured manis to my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram (@rocknpolish).  And don't forget to hit those "Like" and "Follow" buttons while you're there.  (:

OPI I Snow You Love Me

Oh my!  It's late but better late than never, right?  I was having camera issues and laptop issues.  It's all sorted out now, but I was starting to think I wouldn't get a post up.  This is a combo that I wore the other day.  I knew it would be really pretty but I didn't think it would be this pretty.  Check it out!
OMG right?!  So I can't really say this is any amount of coats because it was placed.  ISYLM is full of holographic circle glitters and I'm in love with them.  I mean circle glitters of all kind are amazing but these are just...idk.  I have no words.  My only advice is to set the bottle upside down for a few minutes before application.  This way you can just brush them on without having to fish them out.  The base color I used is FEVERlacquer Come to Me.  It's just amazing on it's own.  lol

Have a great night!

Layla Ceramic Effect 39 Southern Light

So I'm sure some of you may have noticed that I'm not posting everyday anymore.  For the time being I'm going to shoot for every other day just to take some of the work load off.  I work in retail so this time of year is already starting to get a little hectic.  And the closer we get to Black Friday, the less time I will have.  I really hope you will all stick around though because I do have some fun manis planned and some are already done.  *o*

So anyway we can move on now.
Layla Ceramic Effect 39 Southern Light was gifted to me by a super sweetheart by the name of Ashley.  You may know her from Ashley is PolishAddicted.  She knows how I love purple polish and this one is not stranger to the bunch.  It's actually a slight duo-chrome and changes to a grey with pink shimmer, but I couldn't for the life of me capture it.  I tried different lighting but it just looked yucky.  You'd seriously have to see it for yourself.  I used two coats for full opacity but could have been okay with just one if I loaded my brush with enough product.  Oh and if you're wondering how I found the name (it's not stated on the bottle) it's on the website!  I just found number 39 and there was the name.  (:

*UPDATE: Jennifer over at Embee Nails told me that she was able to capture the grey aspect of this polish that I couldn't.  Funny thing...she couldn't get the purple to show.  lol  Since we had opposite issues we have linked back to one another so you could see CE39 in all it's splendor.  She did a post of this polish on her blog so check it out.*

Let me know if you've tried the Layla Ceramic Effects?  What did you think?

Salon Perfect Ivy League

I love, love, love this color of polish.  I actually have a few of these shades and I can honestly say that I think they are all dupes.  I'll have to show you sometime.
Ivy League is a dark shimmering green that is almost black in the right light.  It's one of those polishes that glows from within.  I really love how it looks on my nubs too which is something I wasn't expecting.  So what do you all think of this color?  Isn't it perfect for for the Christmas season?

Paramore Still Into You Mani

I am so happy with how this mani came out.  I have been obsessed with this song from Paramore for the past two weeks (at least) so what better way to show it than to create a mani?  My inspiration is Hayley Williams outfit (and hair) in the video which you can see below.
And now the mani...

So what do you think?  I freaking love it.  My pinky and ring fingers are inspired by Hayley's hair which I love and wish I could do.  I used Jesse's Girl Julie G Party Dress for the red and Zoya Micky for the pink. My middle finger is copied from her yellow latex drip tights.  I used Zoya Avery for the nude and Zoya Pippa for the yellow.  My pointer finger is her DWEEB shirt and I used Zoya Purity for the white.  I know the letters look a little funky but I used a Kiss nail art marker and it wouldn't write smoothly over the top coat.  Whatevs.

This is probably one of my favorite manis, like, ever.  lol I'm a huge Paramore fan so this was super fun to come up with.  Let me know what you think in the comments below.  Are you a Paramore fan too?

Bottle Spam - Purple

I love bottle spam posts for a few reasons.  First, it's like polish porn.  You get to swoon over all the pretty bottles.  Second, it's a teaser for posts to come.  Eventhough you may have seen me swatch some of these before, that doesn't mean I won't revisit them.  I might even use them in some nail art.  And last, they are so easy on a lazy blog day.  This week has been pretty lazy for me and tonight the temperature has dropped a lot so all I really want to do is order takeout and cozy up in bed with my love.

Are you ready for some pretty purple polish?  I didn't even realize I had this many.  If you are wondering why you see so many purples on the blog, now you will know.
L to R: HITS Dionisio, Essie Sexy Divide, NYC Purple Pizzazz, Darling Diva Erotic City, Zoya Julieanne
L to R: Sally Hansen Crackle Vintage Violet, Ruby Kisses All Purpled Out, NOPI Prized Possession Purple, Zoya Daul, Darling Diva Killer Queen
L to R: Girly Bits Twitterpated, Girly Bits Well Isn't That Special, Darling Diva D.M.S.R., Super Perola Primeiro Amor (First Love), Sinful Colors Sweet Tooth

Yeah that's a lot.  lol And to be completely honest I think I'm missing a couple.  There is another China Glaze  and a Zoya that I misplaced somehow and then if I had added those fuchsia type purples, this post would have doubled.  I just wanted to keep it as true to purple as I could.  I did add a few blue-leaning and red-leaning but purple nonetheless.  Did you all happen to notice that I added links to the ones I've swatched before?  That way you don't have to wonder what it looks like.  You can just reference my blog.  (:

I hope this was enjoyable for all you purple polish lovers out there.  I know I was super excited to get it done.  If you have any questions or comments, let me know in the comments below.

Girly Bits and MakeUp Mom 123 Collaboration - Jini Goes Indie

Oh my, oh my!  I love this polish.  That's it.  I just love it!  lol I wanted since I first laid eyes on it and it's finally mine.  It is a super fun glitter collaboration by MakeUp Mom 123 and Girly Bits cosmetics.
Jini Goes Indie is packed full of different colors, shapes, and sizes of glitter and there are some surprises in the bottle.  I brushed on some butterflies and flowers and then a large black circle glitter...*o*  Yeah that one made me happy but I actually thought it was an accident.  lol  After a closer inspection, I was wrong.  The circle glitters are supposed to be in there but I wanted more...MOAR!!

Is this one of your favorite glitter polishes too?!  Let me know in the comments below.  (:

Orly Old School Orange

OMG!  OMG!  OMG!  I know this polish may not be a big deal for a lot of you, but I just died the first time I saw the Orly Plastix collection.  The colors are not anything out of the ordinary.  The formula is just as good as any other, but the finish...oh the finish.  You all know I love mattes and I don't feel any different about vinyls.
Old School Orange is a semi-gloss creme orange.  The vinyl or plastic-like finish shows up almost immediately and it dried pretty quick as well.  I don't think a lot of people are really into this finish but I love it.  This whole collection has been on my wishlist for the longest and finally someone gifted two out of the four to me...Jen from My Nail Polish Obsession.  She's always so amazing at finding things I can't find here.  Well I actually did find them once and I passed them up like a dummy.  But anyway they are mine now.  If only I could get the last two.

Be on the lookout for the other one I received, Purple Pleather.  I've just been wearing so much purple polish lately that I'm a little burnt out on it.  If you like this finish, let me know what you think in the comments below.
